Throughout much of human history the way that people understood their world was through an inherently transcendent and supernatural frame of reference. However, today it is not uncommon to hear claims that science and reason will soon replace religious belief entirely. Is this the natural outcome of scientific achievement? Or has another, entirely separate, frame of reference subtly taken our modern sentimentality captive, altering the way we fundamentally think about the nature of our world, its origins, and its purpose?
